Hello Everyone! Well you know the saying, "Christmas time is here". I have been working on a lot of christmas projects!! I cannot wait to share them with you!
I have also been busy with school and our house is getting new carpet and paint. So I have been one busy girl!
Around my house, Christmas is staying home, eating good food, hanging out with family, and of course opening presents. I am going to give you a little glimpse of what Christmas morning looks like at our house!
On Christmas morning, some of my siblings like to wake up at the crack of dawn! Then they wait until the whole family is up before we open presents. Who is the last one up on Christmas morning? Well, based on past Christmas's I would have to say it is normally my dad or maybe Eli. They both are known for sleeping in.
When everyone is finally up, the wrapping and tissue paper begins to invade our living room. The first present that is opened on Christmas is baby Jesus. Whenever we put out our nativity scenes my mom takes the baby Jesus and hides him. Then she wraps him up and that is the first thing we open on Christmas. After the first gift, all of us kids get to dig into the pile of presents. My mom normally has us all open one present at a time, but the more presents get open the more disorganized it becomes.
After these presents, we eat breakfast and/or continue playing/looking at our gifts. Then our grandparents come. My grandma brings stockings and a present for each of us. My grandpa always brings a present and sometimes he'll bring something good to eat. They normally stay half the day and eat and play games with us.
The rest of the day is pretty laid back. Sometimes we will stay in our pjs the whole day! We eat, play games, watch movies, play with our presents, and some people (not mentioning any names) like to nap!
Even with all the presents and fun, I need to remember what Christmas is all about. I know that is a little cliched, but it is true! It's not about cookies, reindeer and presents. It's not about how big and beautiful your christmas tree is. It is about a baby. A little baby that was born in very humble surroundings. A little baby that was born to a young woman. A little baby that would grow up. A little baby that had been promised for thousands of years. A little baby that would grow up to save me and you. The best gift God ever gave us was that little baby.
I don't know why, but this year that truth has really caused me to stop and think. I hope it causes you to stop and think.
Well, know I am going to end this rather long post with a quote.
"Hey! Unto YOU a child is born!"

God bless you and Merry Christmas!
